Umm Al-Qura Company for Development and Construction

Umm Al Qura Urban Development Company is a joint stock company. The formation of the company was approved under the Royal Decree No. 6258 / m b, dated 05/05/1426 for the purpose of the development, construction and operation of King Abdul Aziz Road project in the Holy City of Makkah.

Accordingly, in early 1426 H a founding committee has been formed to manage, supervise and complete all the requirements of registration of the company with the related government authorities.

During the past four years, the company successfully finalized all the required regulatory procedures along with planning, technical, and engineering studies as well as the economic feasibility studies and development of the master plan. All these studies had been conducted in cooperation with a team of the best international consultant firms.

King Abdul Aziz Road project is considered as one of the important development project among other projects of an ambitious government program to be implemented in Makkah by the private sector. These projects aimed to achieve economic, social and urban development goals to contribute to better services for pilgrims and visitors to the Holy City.

King Abdul Aziz Road project is located in the western part of the city of Makkah extending in a length of 3650 M from the western entrance of Makkah (the intersection of Jeddah highway with the third ring road) and up to Jabal Omar Project, and passes through some unplanned settlements. The total area of the project is around 1, 2 million square meters.

This project aims to fully support government strategic plans to the redevelopment of some least developed districts, upgrading the existing infrastructure, creating a major movement axis in the city of Makkah of a wide road and a gateway to enter the city of Holy Makkah and the Haram Area providing a design utilize the future transportation technology. The project also creates development and investment opportunities outside the Haram area.

In preparation for the implementation phase, one of the most important issues being addressed by the company is that of procedures related to the properties located within the project’s area. Accordingly all the real estate properties owners will shares in the capital of the company.

His Royal Highness Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Governor of Makkah Province, launched the demolition works in 25/01/1431 H. During this phase, a total of 3,747 properties will be demolished.

After the completion of the demolition phase and finalizing the infrastructure works, the company is planning to invest in developing 30% of the total number of land lots of the project, while the other investor will develop the remaining land. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 1433 H.
